| "Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
one for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
in the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all,
one Ring to find them,
one Ring to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them
in the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie."
- J. R. R. Tolkien
(The Lord of the Rings) "Considering the current sad state of our computer programs, software development is clearly still a black art, and cannot yet be called an engineering discipline."
- Bill Clinton

My contract at Tregaskiss has been extended for a larger project mapping out the company's reporting needs. Dubbed Nexus, this web application will be powered by data from their inhouse IBM AS-400 and DB2. This is a first for me and is making for a very enjoyable learning experience.
This project is focused on tying together cross platform data for a full, rich reporting view of their business processes. Eventually, it will allow for full customer profiling and will allow for quicker business response to various trends that otherwise would have taken longer to detect.
More to come as this project unfolds. |

| I have started work on the online training application for Tregaskiss Ltd. It is to use Flash MX 2004 as its frontend with the new Flash XML socket setup for database connectivity with connections into onPoint's Learning Management System (Java) with a MySQL database backend. I'm looking forward to this project as RIAs (Rich Internet Applications) are something that I've wanted to try for the last few months. More to follow as development continues. |

| The web site entrance has been revamed to include a basic introduction as well as outline the resolution requirements of the web site. Although the site is designed primarily for resolutions at or above 1024x768, I still see the occasional user entering at 800x600 and felt the need to outline the requirements. |

| I finished the artwork section framework last night and will be posting my library of digital artwork there. Most of the images were completed using Adobe Photoshop, Metacreations Bryce 3D and Metacreations Poser 4. Some are these are fairly old as I haven't had that much time lately to create new images. Maybe when I'm on holiday! :-) I hope you enjoy them. |

| The fantasy novel database is active in the library and is sortable via author. Currently there are about 70 novels and 31 authors in the index. These numbers will be expanded upon as time permits. The author index page should be complete by tomorrow. |

| As of right now, the blog is active. I took my time browsing the various blog providers, even toyed with the idea of integrating one of my own creation into the site's database. In the end, I decided to go with Blogger.Com I liked their setup and since Google owns them, I'm hoping that their backend setup will help with page rankings. |

After about a month, I now have a substantial portion of the administration area complete for Oberon v3.0. It has taken a bit for me to shift my thinking away from .NET/C# and back to PHP. Currently, the portfolio and resume areas have a semi-complete framework and I'm moving ahead to input my previous projects. I'm quite amazed at the extrent of the web application experience I'm gleened over the past few year and am glad to finally have a master list of all web projects that I've work on since '96.
More to come shortly! |
